Apple has filed for HealthKit trademarks in the U.S. and Europe, with mention of watches, fitness sensors and more
I would love to have this small monitoring device inside a wrist watch. With COPD, I’m monitoring 02 and Heart Rate quite often. On the treadmill, it’s constant monitoring.
During the day my 02 is on and off many times per day. I have a monitor called an Oximeter that allows me to see at a glance how much oxygen is in my blood at any given time.
If the saturation level drops below 88, brain damage can begin. So monitoring my 02 is second nature now. Generally, I will begin to cough, or grow hoarse, or short of breath as my levels drop too low. But occasionally, I’ve had a large drop in oxygen levels and barely noticed.
That is not good. I certainly don’t want to stay below 88 for more than a minute or two, especially without noticing so that I can correct the issue.
I try to do as many household chores as possible. Exercise is a must! And though I can’t do the things I use to do, I can do many things if I slow my pace and take long breaks.
When I’m walking or working around the house, if I’m not wearing 02– I’m monitoring the need for it.
I can’t wait to see all that Apple will create with their new Healthkit
When you have an illness of any sort, monitoring vitals is definitely important. And the ability to send a quick message to friend or family member for help when trouble arises– is imperative.
