MagicJack Plus 2014 – Review
MagicJack is a device that plugs into your computer or router on one side and offers a regular style outlet to plug in your telephone on the other side. It is inexpensive compared to conventional telephone service through a telephone or cable company. This type of connection is VoIP. (Voice over Internet Protocol) Your voice is traveling over an internet connection rather than through a phone line. Which means you don’t need a local phone company, which means YOU save money!
Where to Buy + Cost
A MagicJack can be purchased at most large retailers such as Walmart, Target, Best Buy, etc. They can also be purchased through Amazon Online. Amazon’s pricing was slightly lower than some others and with Prime, Shipping was free, so that is where mine was purchased.
The original purchase included the first 6 Months Free. At the time of registration, I paid $35.00 for another 6 months. So my entire phone bill with MagicJack for 1 year of service will be: $85.00 + 10.00 to Port our old phone number over from the Cable Company. Big Savings $$$$
How to Install
I was a little worried about how complicated it might be to install. It’s actually quite simple as an instruction folder is enclosed and the connection devices are fairly simple to recognize, something most of us have used before if you have a computer. Electrical plug, USB, Phone and Computer/Router connections.
Once it is set up on the computer / router and the electrical outlet, an installation/registration screen opens on your computer automatically. From then on, you just follow the standard prompts for registration; including your name and choosing a password.
It also prompts about choosing a phone number or porting a phone number that you already have. If you port a phone number that you already have there is a $10.00 Fee. And a wait for the number to port which can be 5-10 days. (Our old phone number actually ported in 3 days)
In approximately 10 minutes, you can be phoning a friend!
How to Use
You will use the MagicJack as you would any other telephone. We have a base phone with 3 extensions. When the base is plugged into the MagicJack all three extensions work just as they would with a regular phone line.
My Rating: A++
I am totally happy with MagicJack.
The Price was great!
The sound is excellent. If I didn’t no different, it sounds exactly like our regular phone line
